5 Ways To Motivate Yourself Every Day
Motivation is something that you need to constantly work at.
With so many distractions around today it is all too easy to fall into the procrastination trap which will scupper your plans and could lead to you failing with your goals.
If you lose your focus then you will lose your motivation.
If you really want to grow and achieve challenging goals then you will need every drop of motivation that you can muster.
You may be tired and need that extra motivation to complete an important task.
Motivation is a state and if you are not careful your state can change and it will make you feel like giving up.
So what do you do?
Well I recommend that you have a daily routine that will boost your motivation levels.
This routine will encourage you to get out of bed early and tackle the challenges that lie ahead for the day.
So here are 5 ways that you can motivate yourself each day:
- Set Inspiring Goals
If you do not have goals then you will find it very hard to motivate yourself. When you do set your goals they need to inspire you. Write your goals down and carry them around with you at all times. Read them first thing every day to energize you and drive up your motivation levels.
Add emotion to your goals.
Write down why you want to achieve them and how you will feel when they are accomplished. These feelings need to be strong so that they will motivate you to get started right away and not stop until you have finished your daily activities.
- Plan the Day Before
Here is a simple but effective tip to boost your motivation. At the end of each day create a plan for the next day. This can be in the form of a simple to-do list. You will gain clarity from this which is always good for staying motivated. If you start your day off without a plan then your lack of organization will frustrate you and your motivation levels will drop.
- Get A Good Night’s Rest
Getting the right amount of sleep is very important for your motivation. If you are tired when you get up it is going to be a lot harder to find the motivation that you need for the day. So determine how much sleep you need to awaken refreshed and energized and do everything that you can to get this amount of sleep.
- Avoid Distractions
Distractions are all around us from social media to TV to others who will happily waste your time talking about unimportant things. The first step here is to accept that certain things distract you and then you need to figure out how to eliminate them.
So for example if you like spending time on social media sites allocate a time during the day to do this. Don’t jump on your phone as soon as you get a notification. Chances are it will be something really unimportant and could lead you to spending more time reading and responding to messages. Distractions are motivation killers so take this seriously.
- Utilize your “Best” Time
We all have different times of the day when we are the most creative, most effective and so on. For some people this is in the morning and for others it is late at night. So find out when your best times are to do certain things and utilize this properly.
Now let’s dive into another extremely helpful habit that will help you to maintain your motivation levels high.
Using A Journal For Motivation
There are two forms of motivation that you can draw upon.
There is intrinsic motivation which comes from inside you and there is extrinsic motivation from external sources.
The good thing about intrinsic motivation is that you are in total control of it and one of the best ways you can develop your intrinsic motivation is by starting and maintaining a journal.
In order to motivate yourself consistently you need to be authentic.
So when you set yourself a goal you really have to want to achieve it. If you go about this in a half hearted way then you are unlikely to create sufficient motivation to see it through.
When you are embarking on a new goal that you really want to achieve it is natural that you will be excited and there will probably be a high level of motivation for you to call upon.
But as you make progress with your goal you are likely to encounter obstacles and other challenges that you will need additional motivation to overcome.
Some of these challenges can literally make all of your motivation disappear. So you need an effective way to get this back so that you can move forward.
When you keep a journal you will be able to tap into it and find the motivation that you need to continue.
Here are 5 ways that your journal can motivate you:
- Record what you really want in your Journal
Remember that this is your personal journal and you can record whatever you want in it. So do not limit yourself here. Write down exactly what you want and why you want it. Maybe you want to be financially free or meet the perfect partner? Or perhaps you want to travel the world or own a mansion?
It really doesn’t matter what it is that you truly desire. Just write it all in your journal. Then analyze what you have written and decide which of the things is the most important for you right now. You will be able to determine the one thing that is more important to have in your life than anything else.
- Write your “Why” Statement
After you have discovered the one thing you desire more than anything write a strong “why” statement by listing the reason or reasons that you want it. This is very important and needs to be emotionally strong so that when you refer to it you will be able to find the motivation to overcome the biggest obstacles.
- Visualize yourself achieving your Goal
Now that you know why you want what you truly desire take a few minutes out to visualize already having it and how this makes you feel. It can take a little practice to do this properly so keep at it. Write the feelings down in your journal so that you can refer back to them when you need motivation.
- Write a Plan in your Journal
You need a plan to achieve your goal. So find some quiet time and get rid of any distractions. Ask yourself how you are going to achieve your goal and then write everything down.
Your subconscious is very powerful and will supply you with the answers.
Revisit your plan regularly and add to it or adjust it.
- Take Action Today!
Pick an action step from your plan and get working on it straight away.
Record your progress in your journal every day.
That’s it for now.
